Coaching
Benefit and Sustainability
Coaching is "in", but what is its true benefit? International analyses, e.g. by the US market research institute Metrixglobal, prove that the costs of one coaching session are recouped 5-6 times over. Not only does the performance of the coached executives improve, but their overall job satisfaction and commitment to their employer increases, too. The satisfaction of direct reports and cooperation amongst equal-ranked colleagues also enhances.
Burning platform for coaching - Leadership and Change Management
Here are some examples of the issues faced by clients approaching me to seek coaching:
- How can I, as an executive, maintain the performance, motivation and trust of my employees even during processes of change?
- How can I deal with team dynamiques and solve conflicts constructively?
- How can I, as a new executive, grow into my role quickly and competently?
- How can I, as a project manager without disciplinary responsibilities, assert myself and secure the necessary resources for successful project conclusion?
- How can I improve my own motivation and performance?
- How can I find a good balance between professional and private needs?
Coaching approach
The basis for achieving the targets set with my clients are always the individual capabilities and strengths of my clients. To be able to work these out, I offer feedback which is comprehensive, authentic and honest, but always valueing. From this starting point, we work out solution-oriented action strategies. These strategies are validated in terms of being congruent with the personality as well as with the professional and personal environment. The congruent measures are then tested and adjusted until the required goal is reached. The client decides the course and content of the coaching process; my role as coach is methodical structuring and navigation.
Process and Duration
After a free of charge 'getting-to-know-you' discussion, the actual coaching process begins. My priority here is detailed clarification of the goals from which we can then deduce concrete success criteria by which to measure achievement of the objectives. Often five or six meetings are required to work out, test and evaluate suitable approaches and strategies. Each meeting lasts two to three hours. The interval between the individual meetings should ideally be two to four weeks. In a final discussion the most important insights are reflected upon again and an assessment is made of the extent to which the targets set have been achieved so far. In order to ensure the sustained and long-term success of the coaching, I also offer a check-up free of charge, three to six months after the coaching session.
